Frequently Asked Questions

Every single bride we meet, most of the time has the same list of questions for us. We thought it was a good idea to answer them all in here. BUT if there is something we have answered just click on the button below, drop us an email and we’ll always do our very best to help you!

Who is Lucille & Co?
Lucille & Co is a Bridal Makeup & Hair team headed by Harriet Lucille. We have artists based in 12 different cities across the UK, allowing us to cover weddings across the country and internationally. All Bridal bookings will primarily be booked with Harriet. However, when she is already fully booked, you won’t miss out as her team of incredible artists will take over the booking and be there to get you ready for your special day.

Do You Have A Maximum Amount Of Services You Can Deliver On The Wedding Morning?

Harriet is a firm believer in quality over quantity and so over the years she has learnt from her mistakes and always saying "yes" to try and please everyone. She has carefully put together a maximum amount of services she is happy to provide on the wedding morning which are detailed in our Information Booklet. Maximum amount of services have been set out in order to ensure she can deliver a premium quality service to every person that sits in her chair! Don't worry if your bridal party size is bigger than the amount set out in the Information Booklet, as one or more of the team members will be bookable to assist her and cover the remaining bookings if you wish.

Can You Personally Cover More Services If I Request It, Rather Than Having An Assistant?

Harriet always does her best to accommodate everyones individual needs and feels it's always such an honour that you want your entire bridal party to be serviced by her personally. With that in mind, if feasible, she will be able to flex your start time to 5am in order to accommodate additional bookings. This will incur an early charge and accommodation fee which is mentioned in our T&C's.

If I Don’t Have Harriet Booked For My Wedding Day, Do I Deal Directly With My Makeup Artist And Hairstylist?
In the event that Harriet is fully booked on your wedding day and you have chosen to book with one of our team members, once the initial £200 non refundable deposit has been paid, all your details to the relevant artist and your booking will be transferred over to them so you will correspond with them directly.
When Harriet created a team, she didn’t want to loose touch with the brand she had created, and liked to ensure every tiny detail is covered between the first point of contact right up until she received your professional photos months after the wedding, so she will always be on the end of an email if you need her. Our Brides satisfaction of the customer service they receive from the team at Lucille & Co is extremely important to her.

What Should I Expect From My Makeup Artist And Hairstylist For My Wedding Day?
Wedding mornings always fly by much quicker than you think, and I endeavour to ensure you get the most out it. I plan a wedding morning based on all the details you provide us with on your carefully structured Booking Form. I take into consideration the size of your Bridal Party, how many services you require, the location you’re getting ready vs the location you’re getting married, the time your photographer and videographer arrive and any other key details you may have mentioned. With that information combined with years of experience, I pre allocate between 30-60 minute time slots for each service and leave a minimum of 45 minutes after they are all completed before your ceremony starts. I do this so so that you can enjoy some down time before you leave to marry the love of your life. Some Brides have complicated dresses to do up, family members need buttonholes pinned on, your bouquets need drying, shoes need tightening, photographs need to be taken and i’ll be there to see you through all of this before I wave goodbye!

Is A Trial Necessary And When Can I Book In?

Trials for the Bride are compulsory, as I firmly believe no matter how "laid back" or "relaxed" you may be, the emotions you feel on your wedding day take over. Having a trials gives us both the opportunity to get to know one another better, and means I am a familiar face when I arrive in the early hours of the wedding morning. At a trial we have the opportunity to discuss the styles you love and want to take inspiration from and I can help guide and advise you on what would work best for you to make the most out of the very special experience. After the trial, I always send out a detailed list of all the products i've used at the trial also giving you the opportunity to purchase a wedding keepsake to have with you on the day. Trial dates are released on the 1st January for the coming year and can only be booked once the wedding date has been secured with the non refundable deposit. Trials are bookable up to 10 weeks before the wedding date, and are held between 8am and 8pm in the location specified at the initial enquiry stage. Travel will be charged as per the standard travel costs stated in the T&Cs.

Can My Bridal Party Have A Trial?
Trials are always available to anyone in the bridal party who would like one, but it is not essential. I highly recommended a trial if someone has a specific concern or you simply want to know if the look you’ve picked for the bridal party suits the theme of the wedding. All individual Bridal Party trials must be completed at the same time as the Bridal trials and in the same location.

What Do I Need To Bring To My Trial?
Have no fear, two weeks before you bridal trial is due Harriet will send you a detailed email containing all the information you need to prepare for your trial and also a in-depth consultation form linked to the service(s) you have booked for. Just incase you were eager to find out what you may need, we have included a small list below of the basics:

  • A mood board of 2-3 images of makeup and/or hairstyles that you want to take inspiration from. We want to make sure that the image we have in our head replicates exactly what you have in yours and the best way to ensure that happens is by looking at some images of work you like and discussing how we can incorporate this into your look.

  • Arrive with a fresh face and clean hair. That means no makeup (no, not even a little bit of mascara) and shampooed hair that hasn't been conditioned or treated in 24 hours. It's extremely important that if you are going to be wearing extensions on the day you have had them fitted or bring them with you to the trial. Also please, avoid straightening or curling your hair the morning of your trial. The more natural your hair is, the better!

  • Make sure you bring all your accessories with you if you already have them. This can include veils, hair pieces, flower crowns (if you're having a fresh flower crown made please bring a fake replica), grips, pins and earrings.

  • Wear something white! This may sound crazy but you're doing something out of the ordinary, and its the best thing you can do in order to help you envision how you will look on your wedding day

If I Book To Have My Hair Done With You, Do You Provide Hair Extensions or Hair Padding?
We don’t provide hair extensions, however we do have a list of recommenced suppliers for all the varieties of hair extensions on the market and also professional extensionists' who are able to supply semi-permanent options. Once we know the style you are trying to achieve we will always advise you if we think you will benefit from wearing extensions to enhance the look. If you are someone who already wears extensions of any variety, it's really important you are wearing them on the day of your trial so we can accurately assess if the style you are looking for is achievable. We always stock hair padding which we can add to your natural hair to help make an undo appear thicker.

Do You Recommend Strip Lashes Or Lash Treatments?

Overall, we always recommend some form of lash to our Brides. Having lashes on, not only helps to complete the makeup look and make you feel extra special but it also helps to make your eyes pop in photos. Harriet has created her own brand of strip lashes that range from the most natural enhancement to a glam bride. If you are the type of person who likes to have extensions or lifts then just make sure these are done within a good time frame, both before your trial and also before the wedding day. If you need help planning the best time for these services, just ask and we’ll point you in the right direction!

Can My Makeup Artist And Hairstylist Stay With Me For The Day?
If you have enquired at the initial stage of contact, we can guarantee your booked artist will be available to remain on location for the Bride and Bridal Party touchups at a non-refundable rate of £30/hour. Exact timings and location must be agreed upon prior to wedding day. If you haven't enquired at that initial stage of contact, additional hours can be added on wedding day providing your artist has availability. Exact timings and location must be agreed, plus payment for this must be made prior to the end of the final booked service. As we are only human, we always politely ask that food and soft cold/hot drinks must be adequately provided should your artist be with you for more than 2 hours post bridal prep finish time.

What Will My Wedding Morning Look Like?

If your booking is with Harriet, she appreciates that weddings are really long days so will always avoid arriving any earlier than completely necessary. Her standard earliest arrival time is 7am. Your exact wedding morning plan will be confirmed after she has received your booking form, had your initial video consultation and post trial when all styles have been determined for the Bridal Party..
