What goes into my fees?

  • Admin

A wedding service is never just ‘turn up on the day and do the job’.
It starts by building a website / social media account / attending wedding fairs to promote the business so that clients can find you. Then I need to spend time corresponding with potential Brides via email / text / call, providing information about my services. Once a Bride has booked their services I spend anywhere up to 18 months corresponding and planning with them. As I offer the opportunity to book assistants to work alongside me, I also have to manage multiple diaries.

I use the UK National Minimum Wage of £12.71, for all admin related tasks.

  • Business Expenses

There is so much that goes into running a business. Ultimately, you can spend as little or much as you want, but I am extremely passionate about providing a service like no other.
My business costs covered: Website Host, Website Domain, Google Workspace (Professional Email), Mobile Phone Contract, Wifi, Advertising, Public Liability Insurance, Email Marketing Platform.

I include a £112.50 fee within my costs to contribute to all business expenses.

  • Pension & National Insurance Contribution

As a self-employed artist it is important that I pay into a private pension and also contribute towards NI annually.

Self-employed individuals pay Class 4 National Insurance at 6% on profits. With that in mind, I include a £5.09 fee within my costs to contribute to NI.

PAYE workers contributions in the UK have a minimum total of 8% of their qualifying earnings go in to their pension. With that in mind, I include a £1.50 fee within my costs to contribute to a pension.

  • Kit & Replenishment

I couldn’t do my job without a professional kit. That just doesn’t just stop at makeup and hair products, I also have to carry these products in professional/reliable bags, use director style chairs, multiple lighting options, camera equipment, towels & hand cloths.
It will come as no surprise that premium quality products cost a lot of money. I need to ensure all products are always within date and stocked to cater for a all ages, races and sexes. On top of maintaining my makeup & hair kit, I also have disposable items that need to be regularly topped up: Makeup Sponges, Mascara Wands, Lip Wands, Depotting Tools & Cotton Pads.

I include a £11.45 fee within my costs to contribute to all kit replenishment costs.

  • My Time & Experience

My experience comes from working in the industry for 13 years, prior to that studying 2 different courses a day for 1 year. There isn’t a lot I haven’t seen or come up against, meaning you will always be in safe hands.

My time doesn’t start when I see you at your venue on your wedding morning. The day before I have to spend time preparing my kit, ensuring I have everything ready to go and that it has all been cleaned & sanitised accordingly.
On the day of your wedding, I can travel up to 2 hours, each way, and when I get home I have to unpack my kit again ready to be cleaned & sanitised before the next wedding.
An average wedding morning lasts anywhere between 4 - 7 hours, and during that time you will have a minimum of 75 minutes dedicated just for you! I never rush off when my work is complete, I always stay with you to ensure everything is perfect before you go to marry the love of your life!

To set a standard, I use the UK National Minimum Wage of £12.71.

  • Cleaning & Utilities Costs

In order to ensure my kit and home studio are hygienically cleaned and sanitised between weddings / clients:
    - all makeup brushes need to be washed with professional-grade hygiene products
    - all sponges, hand cloths and towels need to be washed with disinfectant on a 90 degree cycle
    - all hair brushes need to be cleared and spritzed with professional-grade hygiene products
    - my kit bag and work table needs to wiped with disinfectant
It takes on average 30 minutes of my time, to complete these tasks.

I include a £16 fee within my costs to contribute to my time and all associated cleaning costs.

  • VEHICLE COSTS

In order to do my job, it is imperative I have a reliable and fuel economic vehicle. There are many costs associated with maintaining and running a business vehicle such as: Car Insurance, Car Tax, Breakdown Cover, Annual Service, Annual MOT, Annual Tyre Change, Annual Wheel Alignment.

I include a £21.50 fee within my costs to contribute to all vehicle costs.

  • Initial & Ongoing Training Costs

Starting out, I completed a L2 & L3 training course at college. Most years, I attend at least one training course that compliments my work, but enhances my knowledge base to ensure I am always keeping up with industry standards.

I include a £2.55 fee within my costs to contribute to all training costs.
